NEW YORK (Oct. 13, 2014) – EMCO Gears will join the celebration at the TUDOR Night of Champions at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City where top team partner Action Express Racing will officially be crowned 2014 Prototype champions of the IMSA TUDOR United SportsCar Championship and the Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup.
In total, the No. 5 Action Express Corvette Daytona Prototype team won both the TUDOR Championship team and driver Prototype titles, played a leading role in helping Chevrolet and Coyote win the respective Prototype manufacturer championships, and snagged both team and driver honors in the four-race Patrón Endurance Cup.
The No. 5 was driven to the multiple TUDOR Championship and Patrón Endurance Cup titles by Christian Fittipaldi and João Barbosa. Along the way, the team and drivers relied on a variety of EMCO Gears products and services in what amounted to be a practically perfect season of reliability and on-track performance.
EMCO Gears and Action Express Racing a Winning Combination at Indy
EMCO Gears and Action Express Racing combined for a milestone and memorable victory in last Friday’s Brickyard Grand Prix at Indianapolis Motor Speedway where the No. 5 Action Express Corvette Daytona Prototype was driven to the win by Christian Fittipaldi and João Barbosa.
“This was a new track layout for everyone, and being able to achieve the best ratios possible was key,” Barbosa said. “EMCO was always there and they did a phenomenal job with all the requests we had. This was a tough track for the transmissions and, once again, they performed at a high level, giving us another trouble free race. EMCO gears, steering and the related components held up to the rigors of this up and down race and a challenging Indy track.”

"There's nothing that's out of reach – in the long-term, we have a new gearbox being designed," Keene continued. "We're working with EMCO and Dan Cota on that, and that's been going on before I joined officially. Really, everything from the rear bulkhead back is being treated with a clean sheet of paper. Whether it's engine mounts and how it mounts.
"The funky rear suspension, which is like a pullrod/pushrod system – we're going to a conventional pushrod arrangement that's more common and less complicated. The car's fairly well-balanced, so we're trying to keep the geometries all the same, so that's a work in progress. We're able to accomplish all of this, and having a partner like EMCO to help us with some of this undertaking is a huge help. It's going to be interesting to see it all when it's packaged together." - Tim Keene

"We did well over the weekend finishing 2nd in the points sprint race on Saturday, we did finish 1st in class at the historic enduro and the feature Pro\Am race on Sunday that we drove with Jaques Lazier for our Pro partner we finished 4th overall in that race, Jaques got passed on the last lap by the corvette Willy T Ribbs was partnered with otherwise we would have been on the podium for that race too, finishing 1st in the 90 minute endurance race and 2nd in the sprint points race is not too bad for really using the EMCO tranny for the first time " - Shannon Ivey
